Making the most of your Branding Session

Personal and business branding photos are a visual celebration of your business and the person behind it – you. It is your very own unique selling proposition – a USP that nobody can replicate.

It takes us a few seconds to form an opinion about something or someone, and we use visuals to do it, which is why good personal and business branding photos are so important. Branding photos also help build trust. They give people insights into what you are all about and what they can expect by working with you.

To ensure you make the most of your upcoming HHS Branding Experience, here are a few tips to guide you.

Find the Right Branding Photographer

There are a number of creative and experienced branding and other types of photographers to choose from, but not every photographer is right for you. Doing your research to find the best match for you will make a difference to your experience and results. Keep searching if a photographer’s work doesn’t excite or captivate you. Remember, these visuals will be used everywhere you want your brand to be. If the photos don’t excite you, they won’t do much for your audience either.

Communication is Everything

This is a collaborative experience. Not only should you understand what you want, but your photographer needs to understand too. As you plan your branding session, be prepared to dig deep into who you are, why you do what you do, and the message you want to send. It is also important to outline where and how you will be using your branding visuals. Giving your photographer as much information as possible will help guide the shoot. Whatever you do, stay true to yourself – authenticity is essential.

The Setting Matters

While you might be happy with a studio setting, choosing a unique location helps tell your story. What setting represents you? Is it your home office with your dog at your side? Is it a cozy coffee shop? Is it an outdoor location? Make a list of the locations you have in mind and bring them up during your discussion with your photographer. They may even be able to provide you with some additional recommendations based on their experience.

Invest in hair + makeup

Working with a hairstylist and makeup artist does require some additional budget, but it is well worth it. Remember, this is your first impression, so how you look matters too. You don’t need to spend a fortune on a new outfit and hairstyle, you simply need to look polished. How you look should also fit in with your brand’s story – a mismatch will only produce mistrust. You may even want to have two or three outfits with you on the day. Taking a variety of photos is highly recommended

It Is a Collaboration

You need to trust the photographer you hired for your photo session to be a success. Think of this as a collaboration. Your photographer wants to help you tell your story and be able to add top tier images to their portfolio – it’s a win-win.

The more you work with your photographer instead of having them work for you, the better the results will be.

Your branding shoot is something to enjoy – revel in the creative process and take the time to build a visual story you can be proud of.
